I have been one of John's students for the past 9 months. l find his methods and encouragement to persevere extremely helpful. He has a simple and effective way of teaching and somehow even makes learning grammer enjoyable and easy to understand. He puts to good use the many practical techniques found in his book The Language Secret. Methods such as word association and echo reading that l've found invaluable. He is very patient and passionate about helping others to learn and that enthusiasm rubs off. For many years l have struggled to learn another language but for the first time l feel l have a teacher who is really helping me finally reach that goal!

What can I say about John Stedman...

If you are interested in being taught by one of the finest educators and intellects out there, John is your man.

I have never met, or personally been taught by any one comparable to John. It is no exaggeration to say, that there are so few educators in his class as an language teacher.
He has the unique ability to transfer, (or upload) his own wisdom and knowledge straight into other people's heads, at superfast speeds! And makes the mouths on those same heads smile all the while he's doing so!

John Stedman makes learning not just "fun" but completely satisfying and fulfilling. A Gifted man; an Artisan of Language teaching.

My opinion... if you are fortunate enough to get a slot in his diary, take it; without Hesitation!

With regards to his book, The Language Secret, his techniques and teaching skills simply - and, it seems, effortlessly - overflow onto the page.
The first read, had me gripped purely due to the cleverness, comedy and humility of the author.
The second time I actually honed in on the practical advice being proposed. It really did leave me truly amazed. It did exactly what was outlined on the front cover.
If you are interested in language learning you must read this book. I'm on my third time around. Cannot thank Mr Stedman enough!

I actually looked forward to John’s lessons, only if I had done the homework, of course!!!

No seriously, if you put in the work, you reaped the benefits.

He adapted his use of the french language, sentence construction etc to suit your ability and eased you into progressing. Very patient

He took an interest. His feedback/ summary at the end of each session was comprehensive and useful.

Circumstance force me to stop the class but, I am hoping one day to reassume them. Provided that, by recommending John, he is not then too busy.

Having read Johns book, and needing to learn a (couple of) languages I contacted him to try his teaching.

I have failed several times to learn languages so I didn’t really do this with much conviction; I have failed at every attempt previously. This time, however, I have been surprised.

His teaching style is very engaging, clearly varied to the needs and learning style of the individual learner, even those of us with certain learning difficulties. It has really enabled me to reach a level of understanding I didn’t think I could achieve and I am even (as someone inherently very shy) managing to be able to speak more confidently.

Highly recommend for language lessons, the ethos of the book is carried through so it would be really useful to the learner reading that before/as well. But it is not time wasted: the theory does work to help you learn a new language. However much if a lost cause you think you might be!
